The umbilical cable was produced by the Halden company Nexans, which is the world leader in high-voltage submarine cables.

But the town on the Swedish border does not have a deep enough harbor for the coiling operation to be carried out there. Therefore, the cable was transported on a 97 meter long and 27 meter wide barge to Farsund.

- AFTER the spooling was finished, we towed the barge back to Svinesund where Nexans is based, says Tommy Lian, captain on board FFS Athos.

From Farsund, FFS Athos received assistance from FFS Atlas.

THE CABLE LAYER "Seven Artic" was docked in Lundevågen in Farsund for several weeks earlier this autumn.

FFS got the vessel to Farsund, and assisted the ship and the operation with what was needed.

The length of the cable that was spooled on board corresponds to the road distance between Farsund and Grimstad. It will be laid in the Black Sea off Turkey.
