On Tuesday morning, FFS Amon docked at the municipal quay in the innermost part of Lundevågen and hoisted ashore the last few hours of timber capture.

- We went out on Saturday morning and have cleaned throughout the weekend when it has been light, says John W. Nilsen, general manager of FFS.

IT WAS NIGHT to Friday that a ship with timber lost a deck load of 90 tonnes of timber off Lomsesanden.

Some of the timber washed ashore at Listastrandene. But many hundreds of logs were also left in the sea, which poses a danger to smaller boats.

- WE GOT ENGAGED to clean up Skuld, the insurance company for the ship that lost its cargo, and has picked timber from Katland to Listafjorden, says Nilsen, who reports on developments in the clean-up mess to the Coastal Administration.

Some of the timber washed ashore on the beaches has already been brought in by tractor by local farmers. The logs on Haugestranda must be picked up by sea due to conservation restrictions. The FFS will do that job.

- We expect that it will take a few more days before the clean-up operation is completely finished, says Nilsen.
