- Very realistic and very fun. It's almost like you know the pigeons from the sea on board, says Alfred Andreassen.

Alfred Andreassen believes the simulator is so realistic that he almost knows the pigeons from the sea.

The experienced skipper is on a practice run with the FFS simulator. In front of him on three screens he sees a digital edition of Lundevågen in Farsund. Alfred pulls one lever and the boat turns around 180 degrees.

The simulation vessel, which bears the name FFS Argus, has similar characteristics to FFS Arion, FFS Atlas and FFS Amaranth.

- YES IT IS very similar, says Alfred, adding:

- The simulator is a good tool. We can train movements. Make a mistake here, and it will not have the same consequences as when the towboat is running in real life.

SITTING IN THE NEXT ROOM fleet commander Tommy Lian and follows Alfred's manoeuvres.

- Today is a test drive. But eventually we will train in different situations. I will post various scenarios, such as clutching out an engine or starting a fire on board. And of course we do that while they are doing an escort job. The point is to stress the person in charge, so it will be a bit exciting, says Tommy.
